Safeguarding for U18s: Earthly Rebels

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Safeguard participants from any form of harm, abuse, or neglect during our workshops.

  • Establish clear guidelines and procedures to prevent and respond to any safeguarding concerns.

  • Communicate our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone involved.

Scope

This policy applies to the tutor, participants, and parents/guardians involved in our workshops. It covers all activities associated with our workshops.

Responsibilities

All staff members, if any, will undergo DBS checks to ensure suitability for working with teenagers and young people. Staff and volunteers will receive training and guidance on recognizing and responding to safeguarding concerns.

Earthly Rebels' tutor, Jay Doyle, is responsible for creating a safe and supportive environment, promoting positive behaviour, and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with participants.

Safeguarding Policy Statement

I, Jay Doyle, am committed to creating a safe and secure environment for all participants, particularly those under 18. This Safeguarding Policy Statement outlines my dedication to ensuring the wellbeing, protection, and welfare of every individual in my care.

  • Parents/guardians are required to provide accurate and up-to-date contact information for emergency purposes and disclose any medical conditions or relevant information that may affect their child's participation.

  • Parents/guardians are encouraged to communicate any concerns or feedback directly to the organisation.

  • All participants are expected to treat each other with respect, kindness, and empathy, and to report any concerns or incidents to a staff member immediately.

  • Participants are encouraged to follow safety guidelines and instructions provided during the craft classes.

 Communication and Reporting

  • All safeguarding concerns will be handled with the utmost confidentiality, adhering to relevant data protection and privacy laws.

  • Information will only be shared with individuals who have a legitimate need to know.

  • Any safeguarding concerns or incidents should be promptly reported to the designated safeguarding officer within the organisation, who will follow appropriate procedures and involve external authorities if necessary.

Review and Evaluation

This Safeguarding Policy Statement will be reviewed regularly to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance with the latest safeguarding guidelines and legislation. Any necessary updates or amendments will be communicated to staff, volunteers, parents/guardians, and participants.
